Grid-Tie vs Off-Grid vs Hybrid: Choosing the Right System Type

Every solar conversation starts with one question: which system type? Here is the decision in plain language.

On-Grid (Grid-Tie)

No batteries — solar offsets your bill and exports surplus via net metering. Cheapest per watt and fastest payback, but provides no backup during outages. Best where WAPDA supply is stable.

Off-Grid

Fully independent with a large battery bank. Only sensible where there is no grid at all (farms, remote sites) — batteries make it the most expensive option.

Hybrid — the Pakistani Default

Combines both: net-metering savings during the day and instant battery backup during load shedding. Costs more than on-grid but transforms daily life. Most of our customers choose a 6–12kW hybrid with one or two lithium batteries.
